Yes, you heard me right, the pet industry has grown so much over the past few years that they actually have a PFW (Pet Fashion Week) at the end of August in NYC. PFW serves not only as a trade show for buyers to see whats hot for the coming season, but also serves as a platform to showcase all of the new and emerging designers within the pet industry. That’s right designers!!! This industry has become so big that honestly I didn’t even realize how much talent is really out there. I think it so amazing that designers of doggy fashion are now getting the recognition they deserve! In fact FIT (One of the best fashion colleges in America) now offers classes specifically in Pet Fashion, which I think shows how important this industry really is. **more on FIT pet fashion classes, coming soon**
This year there are four special events being featured at PFW, which runs Aug. 23-24th 2008…

featuring the FIT Student Design Award
PFW started in Fall ’06 and this past year actually produced “The Tokyo Project” which was a huge success. In Feb 2009 they will introduce their 1st Spring show, I can hardly wait!!!
The old saying goes “its gone to the dogs”, well I say thank God, now our pups can finally be as fabulous as we are!
Don’t worry, I know most of you wont be able to make it to New York for PFW but I will personally make sure to bring you the exclusive behind the scenes peek into the pUPscale world of the pet fashion industry. If you do happen to be lucky enough to make it here, well then…see ya at “the tents” 🙂
